A Few Random Thoughts

So, I'm totally putting off cleaning the shower right now (my absolute least favorite chore) so I decided I'd waste a little more time blogging and update everyone on how our "wonderful" summer in OH is going.

To say the least, this week has been an interesting one. Gordon and I ended up catching colds somehow. (Don't ask me how when the weather finally seems to be warming up a little.) Hopefully they're on their way out now but I guess we'll see. In spite of a few good weeks of selling, this week has been a little on the slow side. Gordon still should be on pace to hit his goal and is being a real trooper in staying motivated. He and John have done a great job of co-managing together which makes life SO much easier. I'm glad they've been getting along really well even with the stress of managing. On the flip side, I've decided that our days of summer sales are seriously numbered. He always compares this time of year to his two CPA brothers' tax season and he couldn't be more right! I have to keep reminding myself to be grateful for this opportunity. It seriously has been such a financial blessing that Gordon has been able to focus on work for 4 months and school for the other 8. I'm not sure we'd be this close to his graduation without it but it definitely forces us to grow whether we want to or not! Mark flew in this week and it's been awesome to have him here. He too has been a real trooper with one of the bumpiest first days of selling we've ever had anyone have. I'm so glad he's here though. It's always fun to hang out with our little bro! :) Two highlights of the week other than Mark arriving: So You Think You Can Dance. We love that show! And we've already got our trip to the theater planned for Saturday to see Indiana Jones!! (Yes, our lives really are that boring.) On a sentimental side, it has made all the difference having family out with us these last couple of summers. We simply can't wait for Mom and Kara's trip out and then our road trip to see the Gardners! Only two more weeks! (Not that we're counting or anything.) We hope you all are having a great week and starting to enjoy some real summer weather! We, for one, can't wait for it to reach OH.

My New Fetish

So I've been looking around for ideas for the nursery and have decided that I have a new fetish. VINTAGE WALLPAPER!! I have been running across so many cool ideas for what to do with vintage wallpaper. It makes me want to decropag(sp?), cut, paste, paint and create cool things from awesome colorful patterns. I want to surround myself with these beautiful patterns: re-upholster furniture, cover boxes and tables, and wallpaper walls of all things! I have been seeing some way cool patterns in fabric and scrapbook paper as well. I want to sew curtains and make cool collages, lamp shades and all kinds of fun things in all kinds of fun shapes. The problem: I don't sew and I'm not at home so anything I make I have to figure out how to fit into the 4Runner to bring home. Anyway, I just thought I'd share this totally cool idea I came across. It looks so fun for a little kid's room. I'm still not sure if I'll be using this idea in our nursery, but I think it's totally awesome either way!!

Announcement #2

So last Tuesday we had our ultrasound appointment and got to see the baby! It was one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had! And, as you can see, we are expecting a BOY! When the doctor told us he could tell it was a boy he said, "I'd bet my house on it" so we're pretty confident in assuming he's right. (If not, the nurse told us he has a really nice house so we may have to hold him to that statement...) Gordon was able to come with me and was all grins the whole time. We were fortunate enough to find a great doctor out here and are really grateful for the help the RS President in our ward gave us in order to find him. He said everything is looking great, all the right parts are there and look to be working perfectly, and my due date of Sept. 28th looks to be right on schedule with the baby's growth. So, now we're busy writing up our list of names, picking colors for the nursery (that we'll have to wait to even start decorating until I make a trip back in July) and taking care of all of the legistics of preparing to welcome this little guy into the world. As overwhelming and exciting as the idea of having a baby is, it was really a special moment and one that we'll always remember. I can now rest easier knowing he looks like he's going to be a healthy little boy!

By the way, I know I've been a total slacker with posting lately. My goal this week is to do better and take more pics to illustrate what's going in our lives. So I'm sorry about my slow blogging! We're working on that! And if you're wondering what you missed, just check out Lianne's, Nancy's or Meagan's blog... :)

My "Oh Crap" Moment

So, this morning, I woke up looking forward to a yummy bowl of Raisin Nut Bran. I walked to the kitchen, poured myself a bowl (anticipating the wonderful taste of those sugar coated raisins and tasty almonds), opened the FRIDGE, pulled the milk out and what did I find? THE MILK WAS FROZEN SOLID!!! "Oh crap!" I thought to myself. What a disappointment. So what do I eat for breakfast now? Muffins? Nope. Those require milk. Graham crackers? Nope. Can't eat those without at least a glass of milk. Pancakes? Nope. Still not quite the same without a nice cold (not FROZEN!) glass of milk!! Aargh! So, completely disappointed, I settled for a piece of wheat toast and a glass of orange juice. Bummer. Definitely not as satisfying. The result: my yummy bowl of Raisin Nut Bran is currently sitting on the counter, waiting to be eaten when the milk unthaws. I guess we don't quite have all the kinks worked out of living in this apartment. All I have to say is that if I wake up tomorrow and the milk is frozen again, there's going to be trouble! This pregnant lady can't function in the morning without her darn bowl of cereal! Hope you all enjoyed yours this morning!
